Picture this. You bite into something hard, and a sharp pain shoots through a back tooth. You call a dental office. The person on the phone speaks English, maybe Russian. You speak some of both, just not when you’re in pain. You end up saying “it hurts” and hoping they understand.
That’s a stressful way to get dental care. It’s also completely avoidable.
At Trump Village Dental on Coney Island Avenue, our team speaks Ukrainian. You describe your pain in Ukrainian, and we explain your diagnosis, your options, and your costs in Ukrainian. We’ve cared for South Brooklyn families since 2005.
What Dentist in Brooklyn Speaks Ukrainian?
Trump Village Dental, at 2833 Coney Island Avenue in South Brooklyn, has a Ukrainian-speaking team. You can book, get examined, and hear your whole treatment plan in Ukrainian.
Our front desk and clinical staff speak Ukrainian, Russian, and English directly with patients. That means no phone interpreter and no relative translating for you. Ukrainian-speaking dental care is part of our wider multilingual dental care for the families of Brighton Beach, Sheepshead Bay, and Coney Island.
Can I Speak Ukrainian with My Dentist?
Yes. From the first phone call to your aftercare instructions, you can speak Ukrainian the whole time. Our team explains every diagnosis, option, and price in Ukrainian before any treatment starts.
Here’s what a visit explained in Ukrainian looks like:
- You describe the problem your way. Where it hurts, when it started, what makes it worse.
- We show you your X-rays and explain what they mean in plain Ukrainian.
- You hear every option, starting with the simplest one, plus what happens if you wait.
- You get a real price before we start, not a surprise bill afterward.
- You go home with instructions you can read: what to eat, what to avoid, and when to call us.
Why Choose a Ukrainian-Speaking Dentist?
Dental care runs on details. When you describe symptoms in your first language, your dentist gets the full picture, you understand every option, and you avoid treatment you didn’t want.
- Pain has details. “Sharp when I chew” and “throbbing all night” point to different problems. In a second language, those details often disappear.
- Your health history matters. Your medicines, past surgeries, and allergies change how we treat you. Explaining them clearly keeps you safe.
- Consent means understanding. You should know what we’ll do, and why, before you agree to anything.
- Trust keeps you coming back. Patients who understand their plan finish it, which stops small problems from turning into expensive ones.
We explain why this matters more than any piece of equipment in our post on why clear communication beats new equipment at the dentist.
Russian Isn’t the Same as Ukrainian
Many Ukrainian patients also speak Russian. Many would rather not, and plenty of younger patients are more comfortable in Ukrainian. At our office, you don’t have to switch languages to get care. You speak Ukrainian, and we answer in Ukrainian.
What Dental Services Are Available in Ukrainian?
Every service we offer comes with a full explanation in Ukrainian. Nearly everything happens under one roof, so you don’t get sent across town to a new office and a new language barrier.
Dental Cleanings and Checkups
Most patients start here. Your first visit includes a complete oral exam, digital X-rays, and a gum pocket screening (a quick check of how healthy your gums are). We explain what we find as we go.
Bringing your child for the first time? Here’s what to expect at a child’s first dental visit.
Can I Discuss Dental Implants in Ukrainian?
Yes. An implant is a small titanium post that replaces a missing tooth’s root. Over a few months it fuses with your jawbone, so it holds like a real tooth. We explain the whole process, the cost, and your recovery in Ukrainian.
Both the consultation and the procedure happen at our office. Dr. Vyacheslav Ripa, DDS, earned his degree at NYU and completed postdoctoral training in implant surgery. Learn more about our dental implants in Brooklyn.
Root Canal Treatment
A root canal removes infection from inside a tooth so you can keep it. It sounds scary until someone explains it in three plain steps: clean out the infection, seal the tooth, protect it with a crown. We walk you through each step in Ukrainian before we begin.
Tooth Extraction
Sometimes a tooth can’t be saved. We remove it here in our office and explain your replacement options, such as an implant or a denture, before you leave.
Dentures
We make new dentures and check old ones that no longer fit. Your jawbone changes with age, so a denture made years ago often slips. We check the fit and your bite, then explain in Ukrainian whether a reline or a new denture makes more sense.
Helping an older parent with new dentures? Our guide to bringing an elderly parent to the dentist covers what to bring and what to ask.
Dental Crowns
A crown is a cap that covers and protects a damaged tooth. We place crowns after root canals and on cracked or worn teeth, and we repair or replace crowns that come loose.
Cosmetic Dentistry
Want to change how your smile looks? Tell us what bothers you in your own words. We explain your cosmetic options, how long each one takes, and what it costs, all in Ukrainian.
Can I Get Emergency Dental Care in Ukrainian?
Yes. We hold same-day emergency slots Monday through Friday and Sunday. Call +1 718-946-8585, ask for Ukrainian, and describe what happened. Call before noon for the best chance at a same-day slot.
Dr. Ripa handles your emergency directly, so you see the same dentist for any follow-up care. We see broken teeth, lost crowns, abscesses (infections with swelling), and severe pain. See how our same-day emergency dentist visits work.
While you wait for your appointment:
- Knocked-out tooth: Pick it up by the top, not the root. Keep it in milk and call us right away. A tooth treated within the hour has the best chance of surviving.
- Swelling in your face or jaw: Call us the same day. If you have trouble breathing or swallowing, go to the ER first.
- Cracked or broken tooth: Rinse with warm water, save any pieces, and don’t chew on that side.
Is a Ukrainian-Speaking Dentist Open Today?
We’re open today if it’s Monday through Friday or Sunday, from 10 AM to 6 PM. We’re closed on Saturdays. On a Saturday, call us Sunday morning, or go to the ER for severe swelling or bleeding.
For a full breakdown of our urgent-care days, see our emergency dentist hours, Sunday to Friday.
Do Ukrainian-Speaking Dentists Accept Dental Insurance?
Trump Village Dental accepts PPO dental plans and Medicaid, and offers CareCredit financing. We check your coverage and explain your out-of-pocket cost in Ukrainian before treatment starts.
Bring your insurance card to your first visit. If you don’t have insurance, ask for a price before any work begins. We give you a clear number up front.
What Should You Say When You Call?
Just ask for Ukrainian, and our team takes it from there. If you want to be ready, these phrases cover the most common calls.
| English | Ukrainian | When to Use It |
|---|---|---|
| I want to speak Ukrainian. | Я хочу говорити українською. | At the start of any call |
| I have a toothache. | У мене болить зуб. | Pain or swelling |
| I need a dentist today. | Мені потрібен стоматолог сьогодні. | Emergencies |
| Do you accept Medicaid? | Чи приймаєте ви Medicaid? | Before booking |
| How much will it cost? | Скільки це коштуватиме? | Before treatment starts |
Bring a list of your medicines to your first visit. It saves time and helps us keep you safe.
